The Potluck Club Podcast
The Potluck Club Podcast
We are two friends, who made our way through eating disorder recovery as Asian Pacific Islander (API) women and are dedicated to make care & healing more accessible to our communities.
Meet your Co-Host: Ivory Loh (MPH, RDN, cPT)
Hi everyone! My name is Ivory (she/her/她).
I am currently based in Seattle, WA. Culturally, I am Southeast Asian and was born in a small city in Malaysia called Kuching. (Fun Fact: Kuching means “cat city” in Malay). I grew up in Shanghai, China and identify as a third-culture kid.
Professionally, I am a Health At Every Size ® and trauma-informed Registered Dietitian / Nutrition Therapist and Personal Trainer, who is passionate about supporting people in developing a nourishing relationship with food, movement, and their bodies that is rooted in body trust, respect, and pleasure.
I specialize in eating disorders and disordered eating recovery and chronic disease management from a weight-inclusive lens. I work with clients virtually and at the outpatient level in my own private practice.
Meet your Season 1 +2 Co-Host: Joan Zhang
Hello! My name is Joan (she/her/她).
I currently live in Houston, TX, and I’m the eldest daughter of Chinese immigrants. I’ve spent my career working in the mental health space at companies like Headspace, and this all started because I developed an eating disorder during my freshman year at Harvard.
I am now the CEO / co-founder at Arise, a virtual eating disorder startup focused on expanding access to care in historically underserved communities. I’m excited to foster more conversations within the Asian American Pacific Islander community about body image and food narratives across generations and cultures.
Meet your Season 3 Co-Host: Janice Chow (MS, RDN)
Hi! My name is Janice (she/her/她).
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Janice is a San Francisco Bay Area-based Registered Dietitian, internationally-recognized nutrition expert, author and speaker. Through her private practice The Mindful Chow, she empowers Asians and Pacific Islanders to break their cultural obsession with thinness using the Health At Every Size ® approach and seek mind-body health.
Janice has 12 years of experience in clinical nutrition, community wellness and nutrition education promoting weight-inclusive and culturally-sensitive nutrition care. She has worked with conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases and eating disorders. Her writing and expertise have been featured in numerous publications, media outlets and podcasts including USDA, National Eating Disorder Association, Chinese Nutrition Society, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, MSN, WellSeek Collective, and Mx. Asian American.
During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and cooking for families and friends.
Our Goal
To demystify eating disorders and disordered eating, build awareness around how disordered patterns, body image, and mental health concerns exist within the API community, and explore the challenges and strengths that are unique to our community.
Along the way, Ivory, Joan, and Janice share their own stories and invite folks to join them in offering their own food and body stories.
